As for me, I started Language Exchange with Taiwanese friends to learn Chinese last year. At first, I could say only "xie xie (thank you)" and "ni hao (hello)" in Chinese, but thanks to my good friends, now I can somehow communicate with Taiwanese people in Chinese. I really appreciate their help. :)

It's 成人式(せいじんしき)/sei-jin-shiki/, the day of coming of age ceremony.

Girls wear Japanese traditional cloths, called 振袖(ふりそで)/furisode/ to attend this ceremony.

Language Exchange with a partner is the best way to gain confidence and really speak the new language.
ReplyDeleteI try it a couple of time using some of the most important sites - communities around, but unfortunately it works easily, only for popular languages such as English, French, Spanish etc.
In my case it is almost impossible to find a language partner interested to learn my native language (Greek) in exchange of the languages i learn (Portuguese and Spanish).

DeleteOh, I see. My impression is that people who learn Greek are already very good at several languages since it is considered as a very difficult language. Anyway it's true that some languages are very "popular" and others are not. It's not balanced... :(
Well, it just occurred to me, but how about looking for a language partner who's also learning Portuguese or Spanish? It's not "exchange" but you can practice together, or share new vocabulary. :)
